The adult comfort blanket was a visual response to my dissertation research. There are increasingly more ‘childish’ commercial products aimed at adults with the purpose of bringing them comfort. I believe this comes from an increasing pressure within society to succeed and meet unrealistic expectations. The adult comfort blanket represents all of these ideas. It is a soft blanket with ‘adult’ objects attached to it: a home cooked meal, mobile, laptop, cigarettes, alcohol, socks and money. Not only are these objects usually associated with adults but they could be seen to bring comfort to them too. I made them into soft toys and are detatchable to the blanket, so that the adult can interact and role play with them. I enjoyed the contrasting content of adult objects with the fun vibrant colours and object of a comfort blanket.
